Our Favorite Spots for a Family Sunday in Ubud
Looking for ideas to spend a Sunday in Ubud with your family? Here are our favorite places, tried (and approved!) for enjoying the day, moving a little, eating well β and maybe doing nothing at all.
π₯ A Breakfast Everyone Can Agree On: Pubas Space
Sunday really starts when everyone has something on their plate. For a family morning, Pubas Space is the perfect address: located in a peaceful corner of Ubud, this spacious cafΓ© offers a pleasant setting for parents and a play area for children.
The menu includes a variety of dishes to please all tastes, from Western comfort food to Asian flavors. Kids will love the fresh juices and pastries, while parents can enjoy a quality coffee in a relaxed, open space.
Everyone finds something to enjoy β and while the kids explore the playground, the grown-ups can actually finish a hot coffee (a small luxury on a family outing!).

π―ββοΈ A Gentle Stroll: Subak Juwuk Manis Rice Fields Walk
Once you've had breakfast and enjoyed your coffee, head for the Subak Juwuk Manis Rice Fields Walk. Nestling five minutes from Pubas Space, this walk offers a peaceful path through the heart of the rice fields, dotted with small warungs and stone sculptures.
The path is flat, easy to access and short enough to keep the kids smiling all the way - or nearly all the way. Perfect for a family outing where everyone can go at their own pace, this walk is also a great way to get a feel for the Balinese countryside without having to get up at the crack of dawn or pack an excursion rucksack.
(And if you're carrying the youngest on your shoulders, think of it as your sports session for the week).
π½ Lunch... or the Strategic Retreat Home
Some families love trying new restaurants. Others prefer the simplicity of staying home β especially on Sundays. And we get it.
If you're up for going out, Milk & Madu is a great choice: tasty food, a kids' menu, and a laid-back atmosphere.
If you're in the mood to stay put, Ibulicious is here to make life easier: homemade, balanced meals designed for families, delivered twice a week to your door in Ubud. Heat them up in minutes, serve, and enjoy β and yes, you can pretend you made them yourself (your secret's safe with us). Itβs a lovely way to share a meal together without any fuss, chopping, or "what's for lunch?"
π¨ A Calm Afternoon Activity: Blanco Museum
For a change from the rice fields and footpaths (however pretty), the Blanco Museum offers a lovely artistic interlude with a touch of the offbeat. Nestling on a hill on the edge of the jungle, this special place is worth a visit for its setting alone: stone staircases, lush gardens, terraces with views, and a golden light at the end of the day that almost makes you forget snack time.
The museum itself is a reflection of its founder, Don Antonio Blanco: exuberant, a little crazy and very colourful. Children will never be bored - there's always something surprising to look at, between the works, the gilded mirrors and the hidden rooms. And of course, a special mention for the parrots at the entrance, often considered the best souvenir of the visit by the youngest visitors.
π¦ The Afternoon Snack
Still out and about?
Stop by Tukies Coconut Shop. It's fresh, local, and sweet β and a big hit with (almost) everyone. The coconut ice cream and grilled coconut bites are especially popular.
Already home?
If you've planned ahead, there's probably an Ibulicious treat waiting in your fridge: soft muffins, cookies, vanilla creme brΓ»lΓ©e, or a light and creamy chocolate mousseβ¦ to enjoy on the terrace or curled up on the sofa. π
